Having been in the Motortrade all of my working years (28 to be precise) it still amazes my how poor the level of service can be in the our industry. Yes, I too have been treated like a patient with Ebola by an Audi dealer and patronised by a BMW dealer in the past whilst trying to buy a new car, so fully understand how customers feel when they are ignored or treated badly.
One of the main reasons for my wife Gail and I set up our Independent Car Dealership back in 2003 was to help the general public find the car they want at a price they can afford without judging them and in the easiest simplest method available. We have continued with this Ethos through the years and still feel this is the main reason we have so much repeat and referral business, so when we opened our Service Centre/ ReidLine Performance we took the same line, with customers being updated about the progress of their car at regular intervals throughout the day.
Customer Care is KING, simple! But why do Car Dealerships still make it awkward for customers to buy from them? As a car dealer we often contact larger dealerships to buy cars for customers and the initial point of contact they don't know we are in the trade and I can honestly say that the quality of that 1st call is often so off putting I would never buy a car from them!
Of course I should be happy that there are dealers still out there treating customers badly as it gives us a better chance of a sale ;-)
So if you would like to be treated like royalty when you buy your next car, be sure you are buying from the folk the 'make car buying easy'
